Brian on a Bike
- Thanks for checking this page out. I'm Brian. I am a new mountain biker working on getting back some years that were stolen from me. Through my teens and 20s I rode BMX/Dirt Jumping and it was my life! But a health complication stopped all physical activities for quite a few years.
- It took about 10 years to get back in the saddle. At that point, my dad and uncle were riding box-store bikes through the woods and calling it mountain biking. Gears, suspension, and big wheels didn't make much sense to a BMX guy, but I went to the local department store and for $150 walked out with a new mountain bike.
- It was off and on for a couple years with some relapse in health and the struggle to regain my lungs, but it was fun! I actually enjoyed it!
- Enter 2021: I started getting into watching Mountain Bike videos on YouTube. Those crazy people were riding on actual mountains, not just flat trails through the woods! In February 2021 I branched out of my local area and started riding actual trails with rocks and inclines/declines! What a difference! On March 21st 2021 I even tackled my first dirt jumps ever on a mountain bike! The old spark from my youth was reignited!
- At this point I realized I needed something better to ride, so I ordered my dream bike from Fezzari Bicycles, The La Sal Peak. With the bike boom due to the pandemic, the bike was 5 months out for delivery. I decided I was going to tackle as much in that time as I possibly could! I had upgraded to a decent hardtail to replace my box-store bike, and even took my first two trips to a bike park in July 2021. (Where the addiction really kicked in!).
- On August 23rd 2021 my La Sal Peak showed up... My first "built for me" not "chosen off a shelf" mountain bike. This long travel 29er was a game changer! I felt like a 20 year old on my BMX bike again. Never thought I would get that feeling back, but it's here.
- So there it is... my background. I'm not a pro. I'm not sponsored (yet...wink wink). Just a regular guy, crazy excited that I have been blessed with a little extra time to enjoy a feeling I thought I would never experience again...
